Panchiko is a band that first came to public attention in a most unusual way. Their debut album, D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L, was originally self-released in 1998 with only 30 copies pressed. Nearly two decades later, the demo CD was rediscovered in a charity shop in Nottingham, UK, and shared online, where it quickly became a cult sensation. This led to Panchiko reuniting in 2022 to perform their elusive, dreamlike music to sold-out audiences across the US and UK. Their sound mixes hazy, atmospheric indie rock with nostalgic 90s influences, creating an immersive, almost ethereal experience that fans describe as both haunting and soothing. The band has since self-released a new LP, Failed at Math(s), and continues to develop new material, embodying an indie spirit marked by mystery, rediscovery, and a dedicated fanbase that often likens their journey to a musical treasure hunt.
